SCRIPTURE for SUNDAY: Luke 13:18-19.

Upper Room Daily Devotional for November-December is available in the narthex literature rack near the welcome center. These devotionals are provided free of charge and anyone is welcome to pick one up. If you so choose, you may make a donation toward the cost of the devotional in the space provided at the top of the literature rack.

North Hills Gallery presents the Waterloo Watercolor Group Fall Juried Show from October 30-November 27. Please join us for a reception Sunday at 12:15 pm.

Gingerbread Party: The Annual Gingerbread House Party is Saturday, December 3, at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $15.00 per house and includes chili for dinner. Signups continue this Sunday in the narthex at the Welcome Desk. For more information, contact Doyle and Kristen Hudgins at 238-7219 or gingerbread@nwhillsumc.org. We'll provide the house, icing and equipment; you provide 1 or 2 bags of candy to share for decorating and Christmas cheer!

Women's Book Group will meet again Monday, November 7 at 9:30 am for a review and discussion of Andy Andrews' The Noticer, led by Myra Rattan. Call Jan Broomall, 250-0177, with questions.

Economic Justice Committee: The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 19:34, NRSV. There is general agreement that the immigration system is broken and outdated, but where do we go from here? Join us Sunday, November 13 at 10:00 am in the FLC Upper Room as Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, Esq. from Hines and Leigh, P.C. shares the facts about immigration laws, the Dream Act, etc. so we can understand how to strengthen the U.S tapestry of cultures and show love to our neighbors.

Charge Conference for Northwest Hills UMC is scheduled for Sunday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the FLC Activity Center. Among other business, we will elect officers for 2012 and set our pastors' compensation. The conference will be led by Austin District Superintendent Bobbi Kaye Jones.

Travel News: Join us Saturday, December 3 when we go to a performance of A Christmas Carol: the Musical at the Palace Theater in Georgetown. Dinner before the performance is at Tony and Luigi's Italian Restaurant. The cost is $40 per person. We will leave the church at 4:45 pm by church bus. Please make your reservations, menu choices and payment in the church office no later than noon on Monday, November 28. Menu choices and details about the performance are in the sign-up folder at the desk.

Stephen Ministry: Would you like to learn to be a better listener? Would you like to learn the skills needed to make God real in a life crisis? Stephen Ministry training will begin January 14. Think about it! Applications are in the church office.

Prayer Gatherings:
Thursday Morning Prayer Group meets on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in the FLC Chapel. All are welcome to come and pray with this group. Contact Marha Blomquist for more information.
Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Tuesday of the month at 10:00-11:00 a.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the FLCPrayer Room to knit, crochet and pray over shawls. All skill levels are welcome. Contact Karen Bowker for more information.

Altar Flowers: The altar flowers are given to the glory of God in celebration of our new children's dance ensemble called Rejoice. "They send out their little ones like a flock, and their children dance around" Job 21:11
